T.O.A.S.T. Homework Club
(Time Out After School Together)
The Phillips Elementary School has a Homework Club called T.O.A.S.T. This is a study club where students can do their homework and/or get extra help. This is an opportunity for students to have a regularly scheduled homework hour.
WHEN: Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday 2:30pm-3:30 pm
(except on Early Release days, snow storm days, or when all after school activities are canceled)
WHERE: Mrs. Kane’s Room, 2nd Floor
WHO: Students in Grades 3-8
Students are to go to Mrs. Kane’s room when all students have been dismissed for the first bus. They must bring homework and anything else they might need with them. They need to bring a book to read with them each time they come in case they finish their homework early. Mrs. Kane and Mrs. Stevens will be in the classroom for assistance. Students will not be allowed to “travel” once they have arrived at T.O.A.S.T. Students will have full access to any resources they might need including laptops as long as appropriate arrangements are made in advance. T.O.A.S.T-ers are welcome to bring snacks if they choose.
Students may attend every night or just one night. Parents/guardians must sign a Parental Consent Form giving permission for their child to attend T.O.A.S.T. This must be returned to Mrs. Kane before the student will be allowed to participate. It includes a notice that students must be picked up promptly at 3:30. If a student will be leaving early, a note is required and the student must be picked up in the classroom.
Except in very specific circumstances, students will not be allowed to call home and get permission to stay for T.O.A.S.T. without a Consent Form that has already been signed. Please plan ahead.
