We are a K-8 school serving approximately 150 students in the Western Maine mountains . Our school is dedicated to providing a safe and challenging educational environment. The staff prides itself on providing an educational experience that is more unique than any other in the state. Our geographical location provides many learning opportunities that cannot be found anywhere else.
We strive to instill academic excellence in our students. Our NECAP and MEA scores are consistently above the state average. Students also take NWEA normative tests that give immediate feedback to teachers to give direction to their instruction. We work closely with students and parents to ensure academic success. However, we are not just an institution for traditional learning.
Students engage in many educational opportunities that the area has to offer. We have a ski-skate program that allows students to travel to Sugarloaf and learn how to alpine or cross country ski, skate, or snowshoe. We also travel to historical sites around the area to better understand our heritage.
We travel to areas beyond our community via technology. Our technology usage is second to none. Our student to laptop ratio is nearly one to one for grades 3-8, and the K-2 staff utilizes two mobile laptop labs. We also have four interactive Smartboards that are used to enhance students learning.
We also strive to have a healthy community relationship. We have parent-student literacy and math nights, a very active and involved Parent Volunteer Group, and provide the town with information to help in decisions that effect our students.
As you can see we are a small school, but an extremely busy one. I encourage you to browse the website to find out more about us. If you can, stop in and say hi. Thanks for visiting!
