Earth Day 2014 at The Strong Elementary School

Middle school students helped the students in grades K – 4 plant marigolds. As they planted, students shared information about natural pest control with the younger gardeners. Students learned that marigolds are organic pesticides, as their scent repels insects, and they can kill destructive nematodes. Students referred to marigolds as “Bug Scarecrows” as they planted the seeds and decorated their paper bags which were used to carry the planted seeds home. The 6th graders also visited each K-4 classroom to share information about natural pest control and composting.

Kingfield Students are Adventure Bound!

The Kingfield eighth graders enjoyed three adventurous days in Caratunk, Maine. Adventure Bound took them rafting, rock climbing and on a ropes course. The students learned about respecting nature and the value of teamwork.
